About the Dr. David B. Todd Jr. Foundation

The David B. Todd, Jr. Foundation was established by a group of Dr. Todd’s medical school classmates in July, 1981 during the annual meeting of the National Medical Association in Atlanta. The initial purpose of the foundation was to provide scholarships for aspiring young residents interested in pursuing a career in cardiovascular surgery.

Since its inception, the foundation has evolved to meet the needs of the community it serves. Currently, the enrollment and graduation rate of young African American males pursing careers in medicine is at an all time low. The priority of the foundation has shifted to address this crisis, and has aligned itself with Meharry Medical College and Morehouse School of Medicine to improve enrollment and matriculation of our young black men interested in a career in medicine.

Your tax-deductible donations will serve to provide needs-based assistance to African American men currently enrolled in either of the above-mentioned institutions, who meet the proper qualifications, with financial assistance so that they may graduate and further find placement in residency programs.

It’s these types of grass-roots efforts that redirect promising young black minds toward the rewarding field of medicine. The David B. Todd, Jr. Foundation is committed to this cause. We invite you to join us.
